Welcome to the Plant Power Project!

We’re excited to introduce the Plant Power Project, an innovative initiative dedicated to transforming Europe’s food sector through plant-based innovation and sustainability. As consumer demand for plant-based products grows, so does the need for education, skills, and resources to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and vocational education providers. That’s where Plant Power comes in.

Why Plant Power?

The environmental impact of traditional food production methods is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Agriculture and food systems contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. Transitioning to plant-based food production offers a powerful solution—but for many SMEs and educators, the path forward isn’t clear. Barriers like limited training budgets, lack of resources, and outdated curricula hold back progress. Plant Power is here to break down those barriers and empower the food sector to lead the way in sustainability and innovation.

Our Goals

Plant Power aims to:

  • Equip food SMEs with the skills and knowledge to develop innovative plant-based products.
  • Provide educators with cutting-edge teaching resources to inspire the next generation of food entrepreneurs.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across Europe to drive sustainable economic growth.
  • Create a greener future by reducing the environmental impact of food production.

What’s in the Pipeline?

Our work includes three exciting deliverables:

  1. An Inspirational Good Practice Guide featuring success stories and best practices in plant-based food innovation to motivate SMEs and educators.
  2. Open Education Resources (OERs) tailored for vocational education providers to integrate plant-based innovation into their teaching.
  3. A Flexible Online Course for SMEs, offering practical skills and tools to help them innovate and thrive in the plant-based food market.

Who’s Involved?

Plant Power brings together a diverse group of partners from across Europe:

  • Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) in Nitra leads the project with expertise in sustainable agriculture and food systems.
